Pennies for Pounds off Penny...
I am overweight.
Anyone who knows me, knows this is a fact. It isn't just 'baby-fat' or leftover pregnancy pounds. I am overweight.
My weight has effected my life negatively in the following ways:
- My joints ache constantly
- I can't play as long or as hard as I would like to with my children
- I feel like I am not setting a positive example for them to follow and that I'm setting them up for failure
- The slightest bit of exercise has me sweating and out of breath
- I snore and don't sleep properly
- My back aches all the time
- My clothes don't fit properly and I hate shopping for new clothes because the size keeps going up
- It contributes to depression, stress and anxiety on a daily basis
- I don't like being photographed and avoid it, meaning that there are few pictures of me with my children
- not to mention the long term health risks associated with obesity: heart attack, stroke, death, diabetes, high blood pressure... etc.
I want to make a change but lack some will power and commitment to someone other than myself to get this done. I've started diets numerous times over the past few years and usually last about a week before I gradually fall off, cheat and just give up.
This is where YOU come in! YOU can help me be committed to this and stay on track.
I want to raise money for a health related organization while losing weight at the same time. YOU pledge money for every pound that I lose... I'll be motivated to focus on losing the pounds in order to raise more money for the charity. If I fall off the path, I won't just be letting myself down, I'll be letting down everyone who knows me AND the charity too! That's some pretty strong motivation to keep on track, isn't it?
I will be donating the money raised to the HEART AND STROKE FOUNDATION OF BC for use in their healthy living initiatives.
So - How will this work???
I am going to set up a blog online (stay tuned for address) where I will chart my progress on a weekly basis. I will weigh myself Saturday mornings and will record my weight. I will post the pounds lost or gained on a weekly basis.[I will have someone (not sure who yet!) that will verify the actual starting and finishing weights so you can be sure that I'm not just pulling a fast one on you. I'm not quite ready to publicize my ACTUAL weight to the world.] At the end of THREE MONTHS, I will contact everyone who pledged me and tell you what the total you owe is.
I will NOT be using this money for myself in any way shape or form. It will all, 100% go towards the charity.
